Having a sound reminiscent of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Incubus, and Muse with the "likability" of Presidents of the United States of America; Chet and The Penguins appeals to all audiences. CATP's awesome live sound is coupled with an electrifying stage presence that has to be seen to believe!

The Date: Summer of 2002. The Place: The dank hole of Suquamish, WA. The People: Landon Acohido (Guitar), Michael Villiers (Drums), Nate Pagaard (Bass), and Kyle Acohido (Vocals).

The Story...

By this time in their lives of the Penguins Landon, Michael and Nate had just graduated from high school. Landon and Michael were young in their musical exploration, jamming together literally everyday. Nate was off doing his own thing with his former band Poor Richard. Landon's brohan Kyle was working in Alaska.

Landon and Michael jammed everyday until the day came when they parted ways to attend college. Michael moved to Hawaii and all music exploration went on hiatus.

Landon met and became friends with Nate while attending community college together. Kyle was still "hard" at work in Alaska. As the days went by, the yearning to play music grew stronger.

After their first year of college Michael returned home to also attend community college and reunite with Landon. Jamming ensued once again, and slowly songs formed until it felt as if a band should be formed. Landon mentioned Nate as a possible bassist. Although he was a guitarist at heart, his musical talent could transfer to virtually any instrument. Once Landon worked up the metaphorical balls to call Nate, the incarnation of the Penguins became vaguely visible. Nate played with Landon and Michael a few times until finally a few decent songs were formed. It was apparent that Nate was sticking with this newly formed flock of penguins.

Continuing to play music together, the trio progressed quickly writing newer and better songs. Soon it became apparent that the trio had enough material and talent to play shows. The only missing ingredient... a leadman, a singer, a friend.

Trying out a few singers, the band was disappointed with the results. Landon's brohan Kyle was living at home now and constantly claimed that he was the man for the job. One day in February of 2004 Kyle actually came over to the practice room and sang a cover of STP's Plush... The final penguin had found itŐs flock.
